It’s actually kind of surprising how many of the posters in John’s room I recognize the movies of. Like, ghost dad? Who’s heard of that? The only reason I have is there’s a secondhand vhs where I work.

(Though speaking of movies no-one recognizes, “four-eyes and six-guns” is an absolutely smashing title and I wanna see it.)

I wonder why so much of Andrew’s stuff starts with “retrieve arms”. It was funny the first time I encountered it (homestuck), it was “ha ha that’s a callback“ the second time I encountered it (problem sleuth), but my third time encountering it (homestuck again) I’m just kind of like “okay this is getting old now”.

but i'm also a graphic designer and i saw you were asking about what would be easier - maybe if there was only one bend in the lightning bolt, instead of two? or if it was more of an organic shape? i'd ask others about the colors, but the more muted ones seem fine, and the grayscale seems fine, it's really the shape that's throwing this epileptic off (photosensitive, if that helps!)

(and i know competing needs and all make these things difficult, and by no means do i mean this as a "YOU MUST CONFORM TO THIS OR FEEL MY WRATH," i'm just, frustrated that it's hard to do design that helps everyone, and also frustrated at myself that whenever there's a fun design, it's usually something i can't view, and i hate being the party pooper consistently)

Exactly! On the other hand, considering who the flag is for (and by), even these design questions are fitting, somehow.

I’ve seen a lot of the suggested alternatives that people have been adding to @thebibliosphere’s post about it, and frankly, I like them All – so far, they’ve all been recognizably the “same thing.” And if I saw Any One of those variations on someone’s tee-shirt, or on a sign in a march, or shop window, I’d know that person was part of my community.

And that’s the Whole Point of a Flag.

And yeah. I knew my design wasn’t perfect, yet, a couple years ago, when I registered it as public domain. But I also knew it wouldn’t get any closer to right until a whole bunch of people with different needs started playing with it. So I went as far as I knew how to go at the time, and signed off on it, and put it into the world.
